FACCS will assist you to Register your Business Name with the appropriate State Government body for your business address. Before proceeding to the Business Name Registration Form, you may find the following helpful.

Once you Register a Business Name, you will be issued with something like a "Certificate of Registration of a Business Name" This will also have a Registration Number that is frequently known as a BRN (Business Registration Number). For a company, a similar number you may have heard about is an ACN (Australian Company Number)

A BRN or an ACN are NOT the same as an ABN. Once you have your BRN or ACN then FACCS can assist you to gain various ATO registrations, including an ABN. Please click here for more information about an ABN.

To Register a Business Name, each State and Territory operates differently.

FACCS did not write the rules. However, we can assist you to follow and navigate the rules.

• Where FACCS is able to undertake the Business Name Registration on your behalf and can interface directly with the appropriate State or Territory Government computer system, we will do so and we will charge your credit card with our fee and also with the relevant State Government Registration fee.
   
• Where FACCS is unable to do this, we will identify and complete the required State or Territory application forms on your behalf. We will also provide you with a correctly addressed envelope. You can then quite readily:
   
  • Complete any unique additional information required by your State body,
  • Include copies of your proof of identity if required,
  • Sign the form where indicated,
  • Enclose a cheque for the appropriate State Government fee,
  • Stamp and mail the envelope.

Once you have your "Certificate of Registration of a Business Name" then FACCS can assist you to arrange ATO Registration with the Australian Taxation Office for the following:

Australian Business Number (ABN)
Goods and Services Tax (GST)
Tax File Number (TFN) - FACCS can process a Business or Company Tax File Number. FACCS can not process an application for a Tax File Number from an individual.
Pay As You Go (PAYG) - This is required if the business has employees.
